About Ratty Mischief
I first discovered rats as pets when I was about sixteen. It was on a forum based around the video game series Petz. A member of the forum happened to be a rat breeder and she posted pictures of a litter as they grew. Something about watching those babies grow up drew me to rats. That person actually had a website for teaching people about rats. A website that is still up to this day. As I read about them, I realized... they sounded like the perfect pets for me. But, alas, I wasn't in the position to get rats. Between my lack of income and my parents initial dislike for the creatures, getting any for myself seemed impossible.
When I was nineteen, I was still living with my parents but I had income. After talking almost nonstop about rats for several years straight, I wore my parents down and they allowed me to bring rats into their house. And so, I acquired my first rats on September 9th, 2012.
Since then, I've hit rough patches. I've gone through phases where I decided I couldn't keep rats any longer. Their short life span was too much. A few times, I thought I could replace them with longer lived creatures, such as guinea pigs. But no matter what... I kept going back to rats. I found no creature could give me what they do.
In October of 2018, when I'd had rats for six years, I decided to start breeding. It had been a dream of mine since before I even had gotten rats, but it wasn't until then that I decided I had enough experience and knowledge about rats to attempt such an endeavor. So now I am a rat breeder and my goal is to breed rats with amazing temperaments, good health, and as a bonus, are very beautiful.
